Pokemon number 002 - Ivysaur
Here we have Pokemon number 002. Ivysaur which is the evolved form of Bulbasaur. (First a little information on what evolution is). Some Pokemon go through something called Evolution. Evolution is when a Pokemon meets certain conditions such as levels, stones, happiness, trading, etc. There are some others and i will get to those later. Evolution CAN be stopped and that Pokemon will learn moves sooner and keep it's form. Which is the benefit of not evolving. The benefits of evolution is the Pokemon will change it's form and become much stronger in all areas.
All the information for using Ivysaur in the game is all the same as Bulbasaur except it will be a little stronger but it's all the same basics.
Ivysaur's pokedex descriptions by generation:
Gen 1 (yellow only) - The bulb on its back grows by drawing energy. It gives off an aroma when it is ready to bloom.
Gen 2 (gold & heart Gold) - Exposure to sunlight adds to its strength. Sunlight also makes the bud on its back grow larger.
Gen 2 (silver & soul silver) - If the bud on its back starts to smell sweet, it is evidence that the large flower will soon bloom.
Gen 3 (ruby and sapphire) -There is a bud on this Pokemon’s back. To support its weight, Ivysaur’s legs and trunk grow thick and strong. If it starts spending more time lying in the sunlight, it’s a sign that the bud will bloom into a large flower soon.
Gen 3 (emerald) - To support its bulb, Ivysaur’s legs grow sturdy. If it spends more time lying in the sunlight, the bud will soon bloom into a large flower.
Gen 4 & 5 - When the bud on its back starts swelling, a sweet aroma wafts to indicate the flower’s coming bloom.
As you can clearly see, they are all the same thing, just worded slightly differently (which in my opinion is pointless and a waste of time and game component space).
Ivysaur's weaknesses:
Now because when Bulbasaur evolves, it's type does NOT change, neither does it's weaknesses.
Regular defenses - Normal, Poison, Ground, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, and Steel.
Half effective defenses (means not very effective) - Water, Electric, Grass (actually Grass is 1/4 not 1/2), and Fighting.
Super Effective (does double damage) - Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic.

Now as for locations...Ivysaur CANNOT be caught in any generation and MUST be gotten though trading of evolving a Bulbasaur.
